Start your engines: The 2015 SC Automotive Summit Is Just Days Away

By Charles Richardson

ITIC Ride & Drive scheduled for Day 1, February 23

This year is already off to a fast start in South Carolina. The momentum behind the 2015 SC Automotive Summit is building at record speed as industry leaders, engineers, researchers, educators, and manufacturers will gather for three days of exciting developments and unveilings in the world of transportation innovation—on a global scale. As part of the event, a limited group of individuals will be treated to an exclusive Ride & Drive event at the International Transportation Innovation Center (ITIC), located in Greenville at the S.C. Technology & Aviation Center (SCTAC). According to John Hopkins, Director of ITIC:

“We are thrilled to present ITIC to some of the leading researchers and manufacturers in the automotive world. As you know, ITIC has been a pioneer in transportation innovation for nearly two years, offering 1) a straightaway test track, 2) an urban track setting, and 3) an interstate component that utilizes underpasses and overpasses. We have already received a multi-million dollar federal grant from the DOE for our efforts to foster electric charging stations and vehicle-to-vehicle communication. Best of all, we are thrilled to be announcing a coming expansion of our existing facility that will offer even more opportunities for researchers and innovators to test the latest technologies in a private, secure setting.”

Three Days of Automotive Innovation…and Fun!

Guests of the Auto Summit will be treated to three, information-filled, action-packed days of the most exciting developments in the automotive industry. CU-ICAR Professor & Program Director, Dr. Joachim G. Taiber, says:

“We have something altogether new in North America: a dynamic research-centered ‘living lab’ in conjunction with a controlled test-bed infrastructure already in place. We will soon be expanding the research and testing area so that theoretical research and technologies can be analyzed and tested in a controlled, real-world scenario that is fundamental to ushering in new exciting technologies in 2015 and beyond.”
