Fun,
Holiday Fact!
|
|
Did you know
today, December 12, is National Poinsettia Day? The poinsettia flower
is named after Greenville, S.C.'s, Joel Roberts Poinsett, who brought
the flower to the U.S. during his time as the first U.S. Minister to
Mexico in 1825 where it is now a traditional Christmas
decoration. Poinsett is also the origin of the Poinsett hotel in
downtown Greenville as well as the Poinsett Bridge and Poinsett Highway
in Greenville County. Happy holidays!
