National Guard Accelerates
Presence at SCTAC
|

The South Carolina
Army National Guard has accelerated their plans for the three-part
regional center of excellence at SCTAC, further emphasizing the
importance this development will have on Upstate South Carolina.
The 25 million dollar construction job for the
10-helicopter, 173,000 sq. ft. support center is scheduled to start
by the end of this summer and is funded entirely by the federal
government. Previously scheduled to start in 2017, the 93,000
sq. ft. Readiness Center and 49,000 sq. ft. Field Maintenance Shop
(FMS) will begin in a couple years and will require an additional 100
personnel. Greenville Technical College, an integral partner of
the facility, will be utilized for the training of the Army National
Guard's helicopter technicians and will share part of the new
Readiness Center. SCTAC and the National Guard hope for the
complex to become a training center for National Guard units across
the nation.
